Kushal Handmade Rug Slate Ivory

The Kushal Handmade Rug Slate Ivory brings the intricate character of a traditional hand-knotted rug into a softer, more contemporary palette. Crafted from a luxurious blend of 70% viscose and 30% wool, its detailed pattern combines time-honoured motifs with a beautifully muted, collected appearance.

A foundation of soft slate blue and ivory is layered with tan, wheat, beige, and touches of yellow, while restrained accents of burnt orange and dark blue bring warmth and definition to the design. The result is colourful without feeling overly vibrant, allowing Kushal to introduce personality while remaining remarkably versatile.

The intricate central field is framed by a series of decorative borders, giving the rug the richness and structure of an heirloom textile. Slight variations in colour and pattern create a gently aged quality, while the viscose lends a subtle luminosity that shifts beautifully with changing light.

At 0.8" thick with a medium pile, Kushal has a plush, substantial presence underfoot. A delicate 1" fringe completes the design, reinforcing its handcrafted character and relaxed elegance.

Kushal pairs beautifully with walnut and oak, cognac or saddle leather, linen, warm neutrals, and natural stone. Its combination of traditional detailing and softened colour makes it equally at home in contemporary, transitional, eclectic, and collected interiors.

Custom sizes are available for spaces requiring a more tailored proportion.

The Beauty of Wool & Viscose Rugs

Blending wool and viscose brings together two fibres with distinctly complementary qualities. Wool contributes natural warmth, softness, and resilience, while viscose introduces a smooth hand and gentle lustre that gives intricate patterns additional depth and dimension.

In the Kushal Rug, this combination is particularly effective. The subtle sheen of the viscose catches the light across the detailed surface, allowing different colours and motifs to emerge depending on the viewing angle and surrounding light.

Hand-knotted construction further enhances the character of the rug, with subtle variations reflecting the handcrafted nature of each piece. The result is a richly detailed textile with the nuanced beauty and individuality associated with traditional rug making.
